The melody is good

...but it doesn't stand out enough. I'd like it better if you toned down the synth a little and/or had a solo section. As is, there are sections (for example, around 1:45) where your melody is almost lost in what should just be background noise.

Champius responds:

i know what you mean, i just got really lazy with the mixing : S

i may fix it in the near future

anyways thanks a ton for taking your time to review! : ]

Score Rank #1 as of 12:44 EST with a score of 4.66

Whether or not you think so, I'd say you're one of Newgrounds' great musicians.

Nice job on this song, by the way. I like the energy, but, as TMM43 said, the kick should stand out more. Also, I don't like the lull from 2:00 to 2:17. I don't have any major complaints, though, so I'll give you a 9/10 and round up to 5/5.

Champius responds:

Thank you so much! overall im glad you enjoyed it : ]

though im not so sure about the first sentence, haha

anyways, thanks for taking time to review and listen!

Nice

It's a little overdone at times, but it certainly is a good remix.

Also, I can confirm ArmorKing6X's translation, though it's worth noting that "genial" can also be translated as "fantastic."

Pretty good

For the most part, I really like it, but there are a few things (like the instrument at 0:16 and 0:50) that I don't like. It's nearly download quality, though, and there's a fairly good chance I'll decide to download it eventually.

By the way, here's my best attempt at a translation of the comment below:
"The piano loop is very good, but perhaps you should add more of the military drum. It would sound better and give the song more force. Still, sounds really good."

This isn't a literal translation; it's just my interpretation of what he meant, in my own words. Also, I don't know if "military" is what he intended, but that's what the translators say.

Entertaining

I'm not a fan of the horse at the beginning and end, but, fortunately, there's enough in between to make up for it. Unfortunately, the middle of the song is very repetitive. It seems like a 20- or 30- second loop until you get to the end and the horse sound reminds you that it isn't.

Though it is repetitive, the melody is good and doesn't get boring too quickly. I like the original song, and I like this upbeat remix. I'm giving it an 8 for the reasons mentioned above, though.

Underrated

It isn't perfect, but it does have an epic feel at times, and it's certainly satisfying to listen to. I'm not giving it a perfect score because there are certain parts that I feel are too soft, but I'm giving it a 9 because it is very nearly there.

It's unique, in a good way

I don't know what instruments you used, but they make for an entertaining song. I also like the fact that, even though it loops, it fades out at the end, meaning that it won't suddenly cut off if you play another song after it.

Don't extend this

This is long for a game over tune as is (I think ~5 seconds would be more appropriate), and it serves its purpose nicely.
If you want a longer version, use a slightly different tune with recognizable similarities. Ideally, you want something that can be used in the same game but for a different purpose (starting out, adventuring, waiting around, the intro cutscene, etc.) rather than having two songs for losing.

Dj-Flux responds:

Yeah, you notice this kind of thing in games. The same melodies/chords redone over and over again, and it works well if done right. :]

I think adding 5 seconds at least would be a great idea, but I could probably add 5-10 just by adding 4 more bars.

In terms of actually applying this to anything, maybe I'll make a personal project just to see how many songs I can make with the same basis, as if it would be used for a game. :]

Thanks for the review.

It's good, but it doesn't stand out

I'm afraid I don't have much to say about the song, except that it doesn't seem quite as good to me as it apparently does to everyone else. It's good enough for a 7 but not enough for a 10.

Also, you probably didn't need to react so harshly to "Imsrykoed" (you did, even if you weren't conscious of it). Chances are, either he's going through hard times himself and is stressed out or he's a troll and doesn't care what you say about him.

Dj-Flux responds:

Your opinion is appreciated. As I've said in other reviews, everyone sees the song in their own way, it may not touch you as deeply if at all. :]

No, I was conscious of it completely, I would have been harsher if it were possible. It was an abusive review, and a complete troll. There was no criticism, no constructiveness, and all of his previous reviews to anyone else's songs are somewhat offensive. Hence, flagged and deleted his review.

I have no problem with someone not liking the song, that's fine, I'm not the greatest in my mind. I have lots of work to do before I consider myself even remotely good, but if someone is going to vote or review low and then not give any reasons on why it's bad or how to improve it, that's just not helpful to anyone. See what I mean?

Thanks for the review though, hopefully that cleared some things up.

It sounds similar to most techno songs

...but it's better than the majority.
I'm probably not going to download it, but you get a 9/10 and a 5/5 because it's a little underrated.

Dj-Flux responds:

I hope you listened to the remastered version instead of this one o_o;;.

This one sucks compared to the remastered version. Drop a review on what you think about the other one? :]

It's very similar, I followed basic progression, so it's not all like "woah that's amazing." It's my best techno song to date, though. I like it, personally. :]
